FLOWERS

What is it?

Zinnias (Zinnia elegans).

Zinnias are warm-season annual flowers prized for their vibrant blooms and exceptional performance as cut flowers. They bloom continuously throughout the summer and come in a wide range of colors, sizes, and flower forms. Zinnias are also excellent pollinator plants, attracting bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects to the garden.

How do I clean and store it?

Cleaning

  1. Remove any leaves that will fall below the water line in a vase.

  2. Rinse stems gently under cool water if dusty or recently harvested.

  3. Recut stems at an angle with clean scissors or pruners before arranging.

  4. Place immediately into clean water to maximize vase life.

Storage

  • Store harvested zinnias in clean, cool water.

  • Keep arrangements out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources.

  • Change vase water every 2–3 days.

  • Recut stems each time the water is changed.

  • For best quality, display or arrange flowers within 24 hours of harvest.

Vase Life: Typically 7–10 days, often longer with proper care.
